Course Description

You will learn about common power design challenges and solutions, power distribution network (PDN) and different decoupling schemes, and the methodology for Frequency Domain Target Impedance Method (FDTIM) decoupling. You will also learn about the power connection guidelines for Stratix® III and Stratix IV devices and the power analysis flow. You will learn how to calculate and analyze results for target impedance, capacitor characteristics, mounting inductance, SPICE simulations for capacitor interactions and VRM models. Then, you will see how to perform FDTIM analysis. Finally, you’ll learn about surge current decoupling.

At Course Completion

You will be able to:

  • Describe PDN and decoupling schemes
  • Describe the methodology for FDTIM
  • Calculate and analyze impedance, capacitance, inductance, and more
