E4 Computer Engineering SpA creates and supplies hardware and software solutions for High Performance Computing, Cloud Computing (Private and Hybrid), containerization, High Performance Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning and Virtualization. The growth of recent years has led the company to complete its offer with the inclusion of various open-source technologies such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, and tools for the implementation of a CI / CD toolchain. The rapid change of markets, the birth of new applications and the continuous and constant increase in data to be managed, processed and analyzed, have characterized the development of increasingly complex architectures. To meet these needs, E4 has therefore created an internal farm, equipped with tools suitable for Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment processes, which works continuously to identify emerging open-source projects, which perform precise and granular functions and which have reached a level of stability and maturity that can be used in the world of high performance computing and enterprise infrastructures. Thanks to this standardized innovation process, E4 offers its customers four software solutions, which, in combination with the HPC and GPU hardware infrastructures, allow the customer's IT departments to make extremely complex technologies accessible to their users in a simple, fast and flexible, improving its business. These solutions are: KAPTAIN: KUBERNETES BASED CONTAINER CLUSTER MEDOOZA: AGILE MICRO-SERVICE HPC CLUSTER WITH CONTROL AND OPTIMIZATION SOFTWARE FLUCTUS: PRIVATE / HYBRID CLOUD OPEN SOURCE FARM BASED ON OPENSTACK GAIA: GPU-BASED APPLIANCE FOR DEEP LEARNING AND MACHINE LEARNING E4 is a company that belongs to the SME sector of Italian IT. it is made up of about 40 people for an average annual turnover that varies between 10 and 15 million euros. Despite this small size, E4 has managed to position itself in a segment of excellence such as HPC which requires very specific and very in-depth skills. It is recognized by customers as a serious and reliable reality, able to always find the best technological solution for the customer's needs, also combining the need to keep costs low. Especially in the EDU market, E4's historic stronghold, the reputation is very high and the percentage of loyal customers and renewals year by year is almost total. In the enterprise market E4 is still little known but the same approach and the same philosophy that made us appreciate the university market are starting to be recognized also in the private sector. The operating segments of E4 concern two main activities. On the one hand, the selection, integration and resale of hardware vendor products such as servers, storage, network equipment, GPU and workstations. On the other hand, the activities of software integration, development and optimization of open source solutions aimed at obtaining the greatest benefit for the customer from the proposed infrastructures. Both areas are then completed by the proposal of support and maintenance services. In the hardware segment, E4 has created and developed numerous strategic partnerships over time with the best partners in the sector including Atos, Nvidia, Mellanox, HPE, Supermicro and others. In the software segment it uses some of the most widespread and innovative open source technologies for its solutions but often difficult to implement for the customer such as OpenStack, Kubernetes and Jupyter Hub. The strength of E4 is to make all these technologies, hardware and software, simple and easy for customers to adopt.
