The Intel® 82577/78 family of Gigabit Ethernet Controllers provides compact, single-port integrated physical layer devices that connect to the Intel® 5 Series Express chipsets. The 82577/78 family of products are Gigabit copper networking components for mobile, desktop, workstation, embedded, and value-server designs with critical space constraints.
•Flexible, low-cost system design: The Intel® 82577/78 family of networking components provide a small package (6x6 mm) networking option for convenient board layout.
Additionally, the 82577/78 family of products also help to reduce board space by integration using a shared flash design. Finally, low thermal design power (TDP) helps to improve board placement flexibility.
•Intel® business client features: The 82578LM supports Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) to provide a full standards-based advanced manageability solution. Intel® AMT is a part of Intel® vPro™ technology on notebook, desktop, and workstation systems and provides always-available network connectivity and hardware filters for advanced security. Intel® vPro™ technology provides built-in manageability, proactive security and energy-efficient performance for business applications.
