Benchmark description
ANSYS* 12.1 software is a comprehensive multidisciplinary tool combining structural, thermal, fluids, acoustic and electromagnetic simulation capabilities in a single engineering software solution. Metrics: elapsed time to complete simulation converted to throughput metric. Higher bars indicate better performance throughput. See www.ansys.com for more information.

FEA performance on ANSYS* Mechanical 12.1 Block Lanczos Solver workload
Comparison based on 4S Intel® Xeon® processor X7560 based server platform compared to an existing baseline 2S Intel® Xeon® processor X5570 based server platform. Source: Testing completed on-site by Intel labs and reviewed/approved by ANSYS as of 29 March 2010. ANSYS 12* software is a comprehensive multidisciplinary tool combining structural, thermal, fluids, acoustic and electromagnetic simulation capabilities in a single engineering software solution. It's comprehensive range of physical models can be applied to simulation-based product development in a broad range of industries and applications. The benchmark uses a FEA model with about 2 million degrees of freedom to extract 100 dynamic mode frequencies and mode shapes using block Lanczos solver. The workload is IO intensive with limited scaling. The results are based on 8 or 32 process parallel execution during the matrix factorization phase. Metric: time to complete numerical simulation.
